About the role:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Science Teacher to join our vibrant team on a fixed-term basis for one term to cover staff absence. There may be the possibility of the role extending to a second term, depending on the needs of the school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with pupils from Years 3 to 8, teaching Science to Years 5 to 8 and a second subject (preferably STEM-related, such as Computing or Technology) to Years 3 to 5. You will play a key role in delivering engaging, high-quality lessons and contributing to our broad and balanced curriculum. A willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities is an essential quality.

What You Will Do

  • Plan and teach Science to Years 5 to 8 and a second subject to Years 3 to 5.
  • Promote excellent teaching and learning through well-structured, motivating, and inclusive lessons.
  • Set high expectations for pupil behaviour and create a positive, purposeful classroom environment.
  • Track pupil progress using assessment data and set meaningful targets.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, meetings, and curriculum development.
  • Write termly reports and attend parent-teacher meetings.
  • Participate in duties, assemblies, and the wider life of the school, including co-curricular activities and afternoon matches.

What We Are Looking For

  • A dynamic and inspirational classroom teacher who brings energy and creativity to their teaching.
  • A team player who enjoys contributing to the wider school community.
  • Someone who is passionate about Science and committed to supporting the progress and wellbeing of every child.
  • A flexible and positive approach to working across year groups and subject areas.

Essential:

  • A good honours degree in Science or a related discipline.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Proven ability to deliver effective, engaging lessons to KS2 and KS3 pupils.
  • Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching Computing, Technology or another STEM-related subject.
  • Experience working in a prep school or independent school setting.
  • Willingness to contribute to school trips, events and activities outside the classroom.
