The Role

Activity Instructors - Required for Walhampton Holiday Camps

As part of Walhampton School’s extended offerings, we are seeking enthusiastic and committed young adults to assist in the daily running of our Funseekers holiday camps which run every half-term and extended Easter, Summer, and Christmas breaks. There may also be an opportunity to act as support staff for other commercial events throughout the year.

These seasonal roles are available exclusively during school holidays. Camps typically last for one to four weeks, depending on the school holiday. We aim to match staff interests with camp activities and experiences. Rate of pay for an Activity Instructor is £13/hr with the camp day expected to run from 8:00am to approximately 5:00pm.

Forthcoming camp dates for 2025 are anticipated to be:

  • 31st March - 11th April
  • 27th - 30th May
  • 7th July - 1st August

About the role:

As an Activity Instructor, you will support the Camp Leader and Camp Assistant by leading group sessions for a multi-activity day camp for 6 to 13-year-olds during longer winter, Easter, and summer holidays as well as the shorter half-term breaks. Camp will take place weekdays only.

You will be organising engaging games, assisting with various activities, and ensuring the well-being of children in your care. Activities may include yoga, football, lacrosse, tennis, dance, swimming, watercolours, golf, culinary arts, paper mâché—plus many more!  Some activities may take place off-site, such as a beach day, a museum visit, or a forest walk.

Join ‘Funseekers’, an exciting, activity-based holiday camp at Walhampton School. Play a pivotal role in creating unforgettable experiences for pupils and community children. You will be part of a team delivering exceptional day camp programmes and monitoring the well-being of all our young camp members.

About you:

Essential:

  • 18 years old or over
  • Available to work during the School Holidays
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative
  • Can demonstrate a passion for working with children
  • Have initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Awareness of safeguarding children (training will be given)

Desirable:

  • Previous camp experience
  • Qualifications in childcare (Level 2, Level 3, PGCE)
  • Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Specific skills or certifications which can be applied to activities with the children

If you have experience or a keen interest in working with children, sports coaching, or running workshops, we’d love to hear from you!
